Cathy's Bio

Cathy has been counseling, coaching and advising for twenty years. Her background started in advising first generation students through the access group formerly known as Cleveland Scholarship. Through this opportunity Cathy was rooted in learning financial aid, college counseling and scholarships for the at most risk students throughout the greater Cleveland area.

Cathy then went onto become the director of College Counseling at an all boys, Catholic, Jesuit High School in Cleveland- St. Ignatius High School. Through this opportunity Cathy implemented Naviance software, college application classes, co-created the Cleveland Urban Plunge service week, and redesigned and led the all-school grief group.

Cathy began college admissions consulting for three innovative high schools in the Cleveland Municipal School District. Cathy mapped out the schools' first graduating classes success plan. The plan included taking students on college tours, coordinating high stakes testing prep, designing a summer program to develop and launch college applications, and teaching administration and faculty about the process.

While working with CMSD, Cathy began working with individual families as an independent college advising consultant. Currently, Cathy has a foot in both worlds. She is a high school counselor at a suburban Cleveland high school and is a consultant for college admissions and all high school related matters as well.

Over her 15+ years as a consultant, Cathy has advised a variety of students. Some areas of specialization include:

  • Most appropriate academic classes including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and college dual-enrollment
  • The NCAA/NAIA, fine arts and military recruitment processes.
  • Students with disabilities (IEP/504)
  • Advising families that need assistance in navigating the waters of mental health issues for their child

Cathy is a passionate learner of all things counseling and considers it her lifelong calling.
